It’s not that I don’t believe
I just want some answers

That it’s worth the wait
I don’t agree with everything
But am I allowed to pick and choose
The rules that I want to follow?
Maybe that’s why they say it’s hypocritical
If I’m being honest with myself
I’m more afraid of going to hell
I just want to see my family again
Because I know I won’t in this life
Is that selfish of me?
To be scared into my beliefs
Just to please my family
So I can join them again someday
It’s hard for me to just ignore
All the blood that’s been shed
The persecution for believing something else
Is it possible that it’s just a scheme?
A way to control the masses
For a promise of eternal life
It sickens me deep down inside
That anyone had to die
Did you look him in the eyes?
As he lay on the frozen ground
With his blood on your hands
Who’s going to tell his family?
Will you look his daughter in the eyes?
Tell her that you had to kill her father
Because he doesn’t believe the same things as you
How do you live with yourself?
Is it still murder if God said to do it?
Or does it make it easier to fall asleep?
I hope you hear his screams at night
But it’s sad to think that he would have done the same thing
